5 Ways I Deal with Stress

Hello lovely readers! Lately I’ve been SUPER stressed. My life has been uber hectic. On Monday I’m moving (which is always quite stressful) and on Tuesday I’m starting my summer course and all whilst working basically every day at the restaurant. It’s been quite the rush to pack up all of my things. I thought I would share with you 5 ways that help me deal with the stress!

1-Make a list

Over the years I’ve learned that making a list is your best friend. Whether it’s a grocery list or a list of things to do, a list allows you to judge how much you have left. It also provides a sense of accomplishment when you can tick off what you’ve done! I’ve learned to never make a list at night before I go to bed because I end up thinking about it all night and not getting enough sleep. Be sure to not be too hard on yourself if you don’t complete your whole list. Just finish it off the next day and try to have a more realistic list next time 🙂

2-Wake up early

We’ve all been in the situation where you have a project due the next day and decide to pull an all nighter to complete it. I actually do the opposite in this situation. I do as much as I can the night before bed but when I start to get distracted I go to bed immediately. I have woken up as early as 4AM. I know that if I wake up early my mind will be refreshed (coffee or tea will help jumpstart it!) and the work will always be of better quality then the night before. Waking up early also gets the project out of the way faster. And if you think about it, the earlier you get up the longer you have to work on it.

3-Do something for yourself

Whether it’s taking a bath or reading a book, do something that you enjoy doing. You’re mind needs a break from what you’re stressed about. On my list of things to do I always add either painting my nails, have a cup of coffee or take pictures for a blog post. These are things that I enjoy doing and make me happy. And the happier you are, the less stressed you’ll be!

4-Keep your space tidy

I’m not sure about you guys but if I have a really important essay to write and my apartment is messy, I end up cleaning instead of writing my essay. A messy space results in a messy mind. Tidy your apartment//room a couple of days before you know you have to write that important essay.

5-Have an agenda

My agenda is my everything, literally. We all have different sections in our life, friends, family, school, work, appointments etc. An agenda helps you to see everything all at once which I find helpful. It’s important to not overbook yourself, and having a full week in front of you will help you to NOT do that. An agenda can also be fun (well I think so)! You can colour coat and separate into sections.

  • You’ve nailed so many good points on this post. Waking up early is such a struggle for me since I work until midnight. But when I do wake up early the amount I get done based on the agenda I make a night before makes such a big difference. These all seem very much ways to being successful in life. I usually don’t eat breakfast until I at least finish reading 50 pages of a book I’ve started. It’s my routine every morning.

    • Wow good for you! Starting your day off by reading is a great idea. Maybe I should try reading in the morning instead of night for my summer class. It seems like a relaxing way to start the day but at the same time it’s something I need to do. I shall give it a try 🙂
